THE FULL GUIDE TO THE BEACHES AND LIDOS OF MALTA

BEACHES AND LIDOS OF MALTA

BEACHES AND LIDOS OF MALTA

The beautiful island of Malta is located south of the island of Sicily. In this guide we will cover the beaches and lidos of Malta. If you are a beach lover then there are a number of spots that you can visit on your next vacation to Malta.

Growing up my parents used to frequently bring us to Malta and it’s an area in which I first learnt to swim. My earliest memory was at the age of 4 when my Nanu (Grandfather) tossed me into the water with some floaties and asked me to tread water. It was my first ever memory of a beach in Malta and was not my last.

SANDY BEACHES OF MALTA

Ghajn Tuffieha Bay was one of my favourite spots for a swim on a hot summers day. You can park at the top of the location and walk 200 steps down to the beach below. The beach is beautiful and clean with a relaxed vibe and surprisingly not too busy- even in the summer months. Ghajn Tuffieha Bay also has a very casual bar and restaurant and is the perfect spot to enjoy sunset. After you’re done with your swim head back up towards the carpark. From there at the edge of the cliff is an incredible view out to sea and the beach down below.
Other sandy beaches on the island of Malta are:

  • Pretty Bay Birzebbuga
  • Armier Bay & Little Armier
  • Golden Bay
  • Nejna Bay
  • Mgiebah Bay
  • Paradise Bay
  • Mellieha Bay
  • St Thomas Bay

LIDOS OF MALTA

Sometimes there is nothing better than the luxury of a beautiful lido. In the Mediterranean these are very popular and you’ll find them Β in the most magnificent locations.

I loved kicking back in my deck chair with the umbrella up, cocktail in hand while I read a good book- tough life I know ;). Most of the Lido’s will offer great facilities, restaurants, deckchairs, music and an ultra-cool Mediterranean vibe. If you are looking to unwind in style then here are Maltas coolest lidos.

  • Cafe Del Mar
  • Rays Lido at Armier Bay
  • Med Asia Playa is one of Maltas most trendy beach clubs featuring music, dining and entertainment.
  • Luzzu Lido is a stunning Lido that overlooks the Mediterranean sea.
  • Playa Del Sol
  • The Lido: St Georges Bay which is part of the Corinthia Hotel complex in St Julians

[…] Malta consists of a number of beaches, bays and Lidos. Interestingly you’ll find both sandy and rocky beaches equally as beautiful. If you intend to visit the rocky beaches don’t forget to bring your plastic thongs or shoes, as walking on the rocks barefoot can be a little uncomfortable.
