THE BEST FREE THINGS TO DO IN LOS ANGELES
Home to Hollywood, Universal Studios and Disneyland, Los Angeles is as famous for its celeb pop culture as it is for things to do. While living the lavish lifestyle does come at a cost there are a number of really cool things to do in LA that are free. Don’t believe me? Here is a taste of some of the most famous, fantastic and tempting reasons to head out to Los Angeles in 2017, that are 100% free!
THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME
Very few, if any visitors head to Los Angeles without visiting the Hollywood Walk of fame. LA’s tourists travel to the city in order to see firsthand (no pun intended) all the names, handprints and stars of Hollywood’s most loved.
Strewn along 15 blocks and studded with an excess of 2.500 names, discovering and locating all of your favourite stars can prove a task. So if you’re looking to grab a selfie with your favourite then head to the official Walk of Fame website.
RUNYON CANYON PARK
Chances are you’ve seen a photo or reality TV clip from Runyon Canyon, as it’s a popular walking trail in LA. The 160-acre park is located at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It’s a beautiful walk and along with celebrities you’ll often see a sea of buff trainers and their sleek, sweaty clients working out. Sweaty clients and trainers aside, you’ll be rewarded with some of the best views of the city (and, if you’re lucky, a chance to gawk at power-walking celeb with their obnoxiously large glasses on.
If you’re a fitness buff then head over to Muscle Beach Santa Monica, the birthplace of fitness in LA. In the 1930’s gymnasts, athletes and acrobats congregated to the outdoor fitness playground to work out. Today it’s become a popular place for both locals and tourists to get buff in a free outdoor environment. While you’re at Muscle Beach you can also check out Santa Monica Pier, the beach and nearby shops.
The Griffith Observatory is one of the most spectacular lookouts over Los Angeles. For those of you who saw the recent smash hit LA LA Land you would recognise the location. The scene filmed nearby to the observatory contained the soon to be couples first duet “A Lovely Night”.
Admission to the Observatory building and grounds is FREE so head over to their website for more details. the Griffith Observatory website.
LA CITY HALL OBSERVATION DECK
Located on the 27th floor of the once tallest LA structure is the City Hall Observation deck. Getting to the top takes two separate lifts, one that goes express to the 22nd floor and then a second that takes you to the 27th. If you’re looking for a nice unobstructed view of the city then this is a good place to stop.
As one of the top museums in not only LA but the world, the Getty Ceter is worth a visit. With an impressive collection of art and photography, the museum took almost 13 years and $1 billion to complete.
