SPICED BY BILLUS- DELICIOUS INDIAN FOOD AT BARANGAROO
What I have really come to enjoy about Sydney’s Barangaroo is the variety of cuisines on offer. Unlike other areas of Sydney, Barangaroo seems to have made a conscious effort to offer dinners a range of cuisines, which is why I seem to be eating at Barangaroo frequently these days.
The new addition to the Barangaroo waterfront, is a North Indian restaurant called Spiced by Billus. Spiced is not a new restaurant, in fact it’s been around for many years in another venue. The relocated and rebranded premises has now moved to the new hotspot of Sydney’s Barangaroo.
Spiced serves all the flavours that Australians have come to love about Indian food. Some of these include the good old Murg Makhani (butter chicken), Paneer Tikka Marsala, Samosas and a range of delicious curries. They also have a range of real authentic Indian dishes which are also incredibly tasty. One standout for me was the prawn masala main which had just the right amount of spice.
For the vegetarians, they have a range of vegetarian options including mixed vegetables in coconut cream, paneer tossed in capsicum and shallots as well as the delicious Dhal Makhani. They also have a vegetarian banquet option for groups over 4 which is a great way to try several dishes.
Having travel to North India frequently over the years I’ve also come to love their sweet and sticky deserts. My favourites, Gulab Jamun and Rasmalai , both of which are on the desert menu at Spiced. Rasmalai is a simple milk based sponge cake topped with cardamom flavored milk and pistachio.
Overall we found the food really tasty, the menu well priced and the service amazing. I will definitely be heading there again if not ordering on UberEats when I feel like a lazy night in!
